- 28 March 2007:
new show featuring oil paintings by Muriel Barclay and watercolours
by Susan Brown.
Muriel's
current work encompasses the figurative work (dancers, musicians
...) for which she has been rightly praised, as well as new paintings
in her earlier fields of landscape and still life. With a range
of sizes up to the truly monumental, these paintings must be seen
- by collectors, and indeed all art-lovers. Equally covetable are
the glimpses of European cities (Vienna, Prague, Florence ...) captured
by Susan Brown. Lively and accomplished, these transmit the vitality
of crowds against architectural backdrops.
The
main opening event takes place on Sunday 4 March, from 11 am to
5 pm. In the first part (11 am till 2 pm) we have a return visit
from Sabine and her French food van. This proved very popular last
year and Sabine promises to have even more delicious food to eat
in the gallery or to take away, along with your chosen painting!
From 1 - 3 pm, we have the generous support of Linton Wines who
will treat us to tastings of their recent finds. We hope to have
Muriel popping in to say hello, and coffee and wine are available
throughout the day!
Special
Evening Even: Put the evening of Friday 9 March 7.30 - 9 pm in your
diaries for an extra chance to view the show in a new light and
to enjoy an extensive wine-tasting session provided by Linton Wines.
Open to all - please bring your friends.
The
Own Art scheme is available at Stenton Gallery, offering an easier
route to the acquisition of top-ranking art.
