then each day 12 noon - 5 pm
except Thursdays
until Wednesday 22 October.
Wendy Sutherland, with an MFA from
Edinburgh College of Art, is now based in the Highlands of Scotland, where her
true heart lies. Here, surrounded by nature, inspiration appears through her
very windows. The resulting painstaking works in black on white or white on
black are only one aspect of her output.
In contrast are her works on canvas, in glorious blends of colour, taking an
abstract approach to seascape and moorland. Wendy has many followers, waiting
for this, her first solo show at Stenton.
Wendy Sutherland, Saturate
122 x 122 cm, shellac & acrylic on canvas In a parallel solo show, we welcome Blair Thomson who graduated
in 2002 from Glasgow School of Art. Blair too favours abstraction, creating
powerful canvases using strong shapes and rich textures. Influenced by Japan
where he has studied, these are enigmatic yet seductive pieces.
Blair Thomson, Into the White World, 60 x
150 cm, oil on canvas
In this show, all works on canvas are
unframed. All sizes are quoted height x width and are for image size
only.
