Georg Scheele, born in Frankfurt, Germany, now lives and works near the small village of Alferce in the Algarve. We first saw Georg's work at the São Lourenço Gallery just outside Almancil in March 1998. That exhibition was a sell-out and we were delighted when Georg agreed to produce some new pieces for Stenton Gallery. We have now visited Georg twice in his small outdoor studio high in the mountains above Monchique. Each of his scuptures is hewn from a large slab of pink Portuguese marble before being hand polished. |
