Born in Kirkwall, Orkney, Marie Scott studied in
Aberdeen under the Scottish painter, William Burns.
She now lives on a farm steading in East Lothian,
close to the sea. Both land and sea are major influences on her work.
"Painting to me is an emotional reaction to what I see around me. I hope
that through colour, texture and form, the feelings I have about the work are
conveyed to the viewer." |

Marie has shown extensively in group
shows including:
The RGI at the McLellan Galleries, Glasgow; The SSA (in which she won the Wren
and Bell purchase prize 1998); SAAC and the RSA at the Royal Scottish Academy,
Edinburgh.
Plus solo and group shows at:
Castlegate House Gallery, Cockermouth
Queens Road Gallery, Aberdeen
Ainscough Contemporary Art, London
Stenton Gallery, East Lothian (where
January 2002
represents her first solo show).
She has twice been selected as a finalist in the Laing
