After
specialising in Drawing and Painting, Liz Knox graduated from Edinburgh
College of Art in 1971. She spent years bringing up her sons and
lecturing in fine art, with little time to paint. In 2003, Knox
decided to leave lecturing to paint full time and on that same day,
was awarded the Aspect Prize. She now exhibits throughout Britain,
with regular solo exhibitions in London. Other recent awards include
The Bessie Scott Award at PAI 2004 and The University of Paisley
Award 2006.
She
is included in the second edition of 'The Dictionary of Artists
in Britain since 1945' by David Buckman and her painting, "Retrospection",
was selected for the cover of "Paraphernalia", a book of poetry
by Joanne Limburg, published by Bloodaxe Books in January 2007.
Working
mainly in oils, Knox creates a carpet of thoughts and artefacts,
often combining exterior and interior settings.
Her
work is in many private and corporate collections, including The
Royal Bank of Scotland, Edinburgh, Aspect Capital Ltd., London,
ARA Interior Architectural Consultants, London and Biggart Baillie
solicitors, Glasgow.
"Knox
has gone on to become one of Scotland's most collectable contemporary
artists……" Jan Patience, The Herald, June 2007.
